Assessment

Do you want to reduce doubt around what the correct diagnosis is?

Do you want a process that minimizes doubt as it is objective and scientific?

Do you want a process that is replicable and fair?

If so then you need to use psychometric testing to determine the diagnosis. Psychometrics is the term used to mean measuring something (psycho-metric) that is psychological in nature (psycho-metric). This means things like depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, dissociation and many other things are all measurable using psychometrics. These are not just surveys that measure your opinion on how nice icecream is, or which is your favorite flavor. By using the same questions for everyone to answer it allows a fair and reliable bar to be set of what is, and what is not, a mental illness.

At Need A Psych we use scientifically sound techniques to determine what diagnosis is most appropriate given the person’s scores on the psychometrics and presentation. We do not make assumptions based on age, gender or nationality. We use widely accepted psychometric tests such as those recommended by the Black Dog Institute, the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI-2) and the Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI). These tests are used to give a medico-legal report that validly answers what, if any, diagnosis is appropriate for the person. This reduces the doubts.

We have conducted assessments for:

  • people with the possible mental illness
  • lawyers representing the person with a possible mental illness
  • insurers
